A comprehensive and strengths-based psychological assessment will provide you with clear and in-depth information on your child’s cognitive, academic, and social-emotional development. All assessments, including those for learning disabilities (such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia), Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities, include cognitive, academic, and social-emotional testing as well as additional measures dependent on the referral questions.

Our approach is strengths-based and will include the following components:

Record review and historical information includes developmental history information, and an in-depth review of your child’s educational history, and other relevant information such as previous assessments in order to uncover patterns of learning difficulties.

Observations during standardized testing.

Assessment of cognitive skills and processing areas such as language, memory, problem-solving skills, visual-motor integration, visual-spatial reasoning, processing speed, auditory processing, and attention and executive functioning. These underlying cognitive processes are assessed because they support specific academic skills.

Academic achievement testing in reading, writing, spelling, math achievement, and related sub-areas will help uncover how your child’s performance in these domains compare to others their age.

Social-emotional testing is conducted through interviews, rating scales and observations and provides information on behavior, attention, mood, how your child relates to others, and what motivates them to succeed.

Collateral information will be collected by interviewing parents, teachers and other providers (e.g., therapists, tutors) in order to gather additional information and learn how your child functions in different environments.

Evidence-based recommendations, accommodations, modifications, and resources are provided based on the assessment findings, and individualized for your child’s needs.

A timeline of the assessment process is available here.

If your child or adolescent requires an Independent Education Evaluation (IEE), we are able to contract with local school district and complete an IEE psychoeducational assessment.
